On our trip to Napa earlier this fall, we brought home some delicious Madeira dessert wines for gift giving. The short, fat bottles didn't fit in a typical wine bag, so I needed to get creative wrapping them. …

One of my favorite things to make during the holidays is this Easy Spicy Chex Mix. I have been making it for so many years that I'm pretty sure our neighbors expect it now. This easy snack is perfect anytime. I like making huge batches at the same time... some for giving, some for eating.
Here is what you'll need :
2 pound bag of pre made Chex (you can make your own Chex, but using the premade obviously cuts down a lot of time)
4 cups cheese-its
4 cups oyster crackers
2 cups cashews
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup powdered ranch mix
1/8 cup red pepper flakes
In a large bowl (or giant foil pan because I don't have a large enough bowl), combine Chex, Cheese-Its, Oyster Crackers, and nuts.
Drizzle vegetable oil and stir until everything is lightly coated.
Sprinkle Ranch Mix on top and mix to coat.
Add red pepper flakes and mix well.
I enlisted this little elf to help stir
All wrapped in clear cello bags tied up with string! Handmade ornaments complete the boys' teacher gifts this year.
Don't miss Eleven Gables Holiday Christmas Tour!

Welcome back to Eleven Gables Christmas Home Tour (part 2)! If you missed part one, don't worry, you can catch up HERE! I am so thrilled to be participating in another installment of Blogger Stylin' Home Tours hosted by Lindsay of The White Buffalo Stylin' Co . If you are joining me from Jenna at Rain on a Tin Roof, Welcome!! If you missed her tour, be sure and stop by.
Today, I am showing you around the kitchen and keeping room. The new kitchen is where we spend the majority of our time, so it was important to keep the decor clean, simple, and colorful.
Blue and White is the anchor in my kitchen. My wedding dishes are Spode Blue Italian. I loved adding in Red and Green this Christmas.
My boys decorated this gingerbread house all on their own. This year, I purchased a preassembled gingerbread house and it made a world of difference with the littles!!
For my kitchen tree, I dug out my copper cookie cutters and tied them to the tree.
The vent hood mantle got a fresh boxwood wreath with a red bow and little deer mount.
The hot chocolate station is ready to go!!
The Keeping room:
2015 will bring new slips to Eleven Gables! The floral needs to go! But Mr. Eleven Gables put the breaks on my shenanigans this year after the porch remodel. The plaid wreaths on the windows were my mother's.
The side table holds china ornaments and sharpies at the ready for my whims!
My latest hobby is hand "painted" ornaments. I wrote an easy tutorial for you HERE.
Thank you for coming on my Christmas Kitchen tour!
Next week, I will feature an easy & delicious cocktail you will definitely want to keep in your Holiday Pinterest file!!
A few glimpses of my Christmas Tour, part one:
The children are nestled all snug in their beds; with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads...

Merry Christmas, Darling
We're apart, that's true
But I can dream
and in my dreams
I'm Christmasing with You.
I am so happy you are here. Welcome to Eleven Gables friends, old and new. If you aren't coming from Thrifty Decor Chick, you must go back and see her gorgeous tour!
What is it about Christmas that makes me so nostalgic?
Is it the Carpenter's playing in the background?
Hanging ornaments I made as a preschooler on the tree?
Listening to my boys talk about each and every ornament as they find a special place for it on the tree?
Maybe it's the games, the Christmas movies, or the baking that makes it so nostalgic.
Memories flood my mind each Christmas and I am a kid again.
Reminiscing over days gone by.
Dreaming of ways I can be intentional with my family this Christmas season.

Holidays are joyful
There's always something new
But every day's a holiday
When I'm near to you
Oh the lights on the tree
I wish you could see
I wish it every day
The logs on the fire
fill me with desire
to see you and to say
That I wish you Merry Christmas
Happy New Year too
I've just one wish
On this Christmas Eve
I wish I were with you.
Merry Merry Merry Christmas,
Merry Christmas,
darling!
I hope you sang along to the Carpenter's Merry Christmas Darling in your head. If you don't know what song I'm talking about, Here, it is. I promise I'm not crazy, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Karen Carpenter. And I'm feeling pretty Nostalgic.
