America celebrates Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a day set apart in order to give thanks for the blessing of the harvest. As a descendant of the Mayflower, Thanksgiving is truly a time for my family to reflect on the heritage that has been passed down for generations. Thanksgiving weekend is set aside for trimming the Christmas Tree, playing games, and watching football.

This Thanksgiving, I wanted to incorporate things around my house on our table, aka shop my house. I am so excited to show you my tables! In my Blogger Stylin' Fall Home Tour, I showed you how I added touches of fall throughout my home. Today, I am showing you how I will set my Autumn Thanksgiving table.
If it is an Indian Summer, we will be eating outside. Who am I kidding? It will be cold and blustery, but the yard is so beautiful today, I just HAD to set up my table outside!!
The sprinkling of leaves is acting like a festive confetti of red, yellow, and orange. Such beauty in God's creation.

Brown transferware, pewter, my grandmother's silver, and dishtowels used as napkins give the table a bit of English Countryside Charm.
It's all so romantic, but WHAT do you do when you want to set a pretty table without all the fuss? You can still attain a lovely table! Literally five minutes and I had a new table set for next to NOTHING. And the best part? It all goes in the trash with no dishes to wash!
Using some outdoor furniture or even a card table,
I took the scarf off my neck and transformed it into a tablecloth.
Grocery store flowers cut and plopped in a container, paper plates dug out of my "leftover" stash, plastic cups and utensils...
It isn't about the money spent on having the "right" accessories as seen on Pinterest, Instagram, or Facebook. This table could be just as lovely with white paper napkins, plates, and utensils. Utilizing a scarf, piece of fabric remnant, or fruit adds color and texture to your table.

One of our traditions we do as a family is write down things we are thankful for. We start the beginning of November and allow the children (and Mommy and Daddy) to add to it whenever they recognize something they are thankful for. On Thanksgiving Day, we reread our "thanks" and talk about the many ways God has worked in our family over the past year by looking at "thanks" from previous years.

To me, Thanksgiving isn't just about a beautiful tablescape, Thankgiving is about FAMILY.
This is our family on Thanksgiving Day last year. Our extended family was out of town, so we made the best of it! Turkey, Stuffing, Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes..
The table was simple. The boys each made their own placemat with craft paper and markers while my husband and I finished up dinner preparations.
Here we used our china and crystal, but the meal wouldn't have been any less special with all paper goods! The focus is on being together and good conversation.
