Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Another year has come and gone.
It's been full of joy, pain, happiness, and sorrow.  I've learned a lot, but always ready for new beginnings.  The Lord has impressed upon my heart a few words for the year.  Yes, I know that is the trend these days, but when the Lord spoke to me He did it so clearly.  I wanted to write it here, on the internet, so it will be burned forever upon my heart.

Throughout His Word, the Bible, God commands us to
"Fear not (Do Not Be Afraid)."
Why would He say that to us so many times?  It's been said he used that and similar wording in the Bible over 365 times.  The enemy's most popular weapon against us is Fear.
"The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?"
Psalm 27:1

God is with me.  God is with you.  He gives us the
SECURITY
we need to live in peace... feeling safe, stable and free from fear or anxiety.
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.  My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him." Psalm 28:7

May this reminder from Psalm 91 give you
PEACE
as you approach the New Year!
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.' He will save you from hidden traps, shielding you from deadly hazards.
He will cover you with His feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and defense.
FEAR NOTHING-not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon.  Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you.
You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses.  Yes, because God is your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door.  He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go.  If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.  You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
'If you'll hold on to me for dear life,' says God,
'I'll get you out of any trouble.  I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times;  I'll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"
Psalm 91 The Message

What are you afraid of?  My prayer is that you place it at the feet of God.  Just tell Him.  Fill your fearful thoughts with His word of Truth...
"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.  Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."  Philippians 4:8

You are beautiful.  Thank you for supporting me in life and in this blogging journey.  It means more to me than you know.

xx,  Emily

  1. Emily...hopefully you're not getting this twice because my first comment disappeared! But...thank you so much for this post! Psalm 91 is my favorite. We are walking through the hardest time of our lives right now and reading this post brought such peace to me. I know that there is purpose in our pain and blessings in the storm. May God continue to use you and bless you in the coming year! You are a blessing to all of us! @melodyborg

  2. I love that you put your faith just "out there"! But a question - do you ever struggle w/the mixed message of materialism and what God wants for all of us? I do! Just curious. Happy New Year to you and your family!

    1. of course! I think we all, at times, can struggle with materialism especially when I'm spending more time on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, etc. seeing everyone's "curated photo" than in HIS WORD. Even reading "books about God" isn't the same for me. I love digging into the scriptures and reading His word for myself. Great question!!

  8. Emily, Your message today was just what I needed. Fear can so easily drain the joy out of our lives. Personally, I know at times it has prevented me from living life to the fullest. Thank you for reminding us that we have Psalm 91 to turn to. My goal for the new year is to not live in fear, and remind myself that the best is yet to come! Love and blessings to you and your family!
